The 62 page guide provides a window into the aquatic ecology of the Maumee River basin, showcasing the diversity and color of freshwater mussels with over 150 pictures, figures, and illustrations. The species described are a list of species distributed widely throughout central North America. So, even if you are not within the boundaries of this watershed, it's hoped you will still find the guide useful.

“Freshwater Mussels of the Maumee Drainage” was developed through funding provided by the Ohio Environmental Education Fund and the Lucas Soil and Water Conservation District, partnered by the University of Toledo Department of Earth, Ecological and Environmental Sciences. It was developed to serve as a resource for citizens, educators and professionals of the Maumee River drainage.
The Second Edition of this guide was made possible by the financial contributions of U.S. EPA and U.S. Fish and Wildlife.
Bound hardcopy is available to interested parties within the Maumee River basin.
